Bacchanal Promotions is a fully insured Detroit based entertainment company specializing in circus performance, fire arts, and tribal-fusion belly-dance. Andrew and Lex D'Ascenzo offer stage performance, strolling entertainment, and instruction in a variety of performance arts. Founded in 2007, Bacchanal has performed their unique blend of entertainment at hundreds of events throughout the United States and Canada.
FIRE
Their most popular act, fire performances astonish audiences in any setting. With high-energy spinning acts like poi, fans and double staff, they offer the adrenaline of fire without the danger. Fire breathing invokes the breathtaking power of the flame, while graceful fire fingers, contact staff, and rope dart show its beauty. Fire eating and fakir add an element of seduction and allure, to which we add acro-balance and choreographed duet routines to bring it all together.
STILTS
Bacchanal's performers are much more than typical stilt walkers. They use stilts called Powerisers, also known as bocks or simply put, jumping stilts. Standing over 7ft tall with huge springs attached to their feet, they're able to run and jump over 6ft in the air, doing flips and acrobatic stunts.
CONTACT JUGGLING
Relatively new in the world of circus arts, contact juggling gets its appeal from its inherent sense of illusion. While transparent spheres gracefully roll on the performer's arms and hands, they often appear to float through the air, independent of the performer. Contact juggling is offered as a part of their duet stage show, and is the most popular choice for strolling entertainment.
DANCE
A pioneer in her community, Lex has been dancing for over 15 years, and has developed a unique tribal-fusion style of belly-dance. Complimenting an already stunning style, Lex often incorporates various props including veils and snakes. Her sword dance is well-known in the area, in which she uses two large swords in a flawless display of balance and grace. Lex also incorporates this style in fire performances, complimenting her technical skill with elegance and style.
